Walter Cruttenden discusses some of the ideas in his 2005 book Lost Star of Myth and Time.
The myth and folklore of ancestral peoples around the world hints at a vast cycle of time, with alternating Dark and Golden Ages. Plato called it the Great Year. Long believed to be a fairy tale, there is now new astronomical evidence to show it has a basis in fact. Moreover, because it is caused by the acceleration of our Sun around another star, we learn that the Earth should soon be carried into a region of space that will have a beneficial effect on our atmosphere, nudging mankind into a higher state of consciousness.

Lost Star of Myth and Time weaves together some of the latest archaeological evidence with cutting-edge astronomy to reveal a history of the world that finally fits with myth, folklore and the archaeological record. While the book explores some of the most interesting aspects of a once advanced civilization that covered the Earth, it is really about what happens to the Earth and consciousness as our solar system moves through space in the mysterious motion known as the precession of the equinox. Since the days of Isaac Newton, this astronomical phenomenon has been attributed to local gravitational forces wobbling the Earth’s axis. Lost Star now shows us in no uncertain terms that the Earth’s axis does not change orientation relative to objects inside the solar system at the same rate as it changes orientation to objects outside the solar system, meaning precession must be due to our Sun’s binary motion around another star.

Chapter by chapter it becomes clear that ancient cultures knew of precession, used it as the clock of the ages, understood it to be due to the solar system’s motion through space, and realized this subjects the Earth to a cycle of waxing and waning stellar influences. It is these forces that affect our magnetosphere, ionosphere and indirectly create the larger seasons of the Great Year. This not only gives cause for a major rethink of human history and potential, but indicates we are approaching a tipping point in the awakening of consciousness.

Walter Cruttenden | Cosmic Influence, July 30, 2012

Walter Cruttenden
Amateur Theoretical Archaeo-Astronomer and Author of the Binary Theory of Precession

Ancient cultures around the world spoke of a vast cycle of time with alternating dark and golden ages; Plato called it the Great Year. Most of us were taught there is no cycle and there was no higher age on earth. But recent archaeological and anthropological evidence suggests that long before the classical Dark Age mankind had knowledge of astronomy, mathematics, advanced engineering techniques and many other capabilities that don’t easily fit the linear paradigm.

The myth and folklore from multiple yet unrelated cultures hint at a pre Babel consciousness that goes beyond the limits of the five senses, implying abilities that are the subject of much research today. If there was such an historical time on earth and the cycle is real then it must have a natural cause akin to the powerful celestial motions that produce the diurnal cycle of day and night or the annual cycle of the seasons.

This talk explores the possibility that the precession of the equinox (the movement of the stars across the sky – at about 50” per year), which so fascinated the ancients, has been misdiagnosed and may be the observable of our solar system in motion. Beyond producing changes in our ionosphere, magnetosphere, and the ebb and flow of the ice ages, it might also be the indirect mechanism resulting in the waxing and waning of consciousness implied in the writings of great men from Hesiod to Newton.

Synopsis
Drink some coffee for this one, folks. It’s about cycles of time, celestial mechanics, and ancient knowledge -- a discussion with author, producer and alternative historian, Walter Cruttenden, another techie gone esoteric and with the best of intentions.

Cruttenden says humankind is moving out of a brutally dark period and into the light, a golden age, just like those described so often in myth and legend. But Cruttenden’s take on things melds folklore with astronomy and hard science with the Vedas. He isn’t adverse to quoting the Bible. “The further back you go, the closer you get to the higher ages.”

Cruttenden says high-functioning consciousness is cyclical, that both dark and golden ages wax and wane with proximity to the Sun, just as do the seasons, as the solar system moves through the heavens. But then he adds that we may well live in a binary system. There may be two suns affecting things.

Paraphrasing some of the discussion, Cruttenden tells us that:
Our solar system may be moving at a high rate of speed, circling some object.
“Our sun may have a partner – a binary star. Astronomers don’t agree about this, but some are looking for one. They think it might explain some things, like dinosaur extinction. Scientist Mike Brown at Cal Tech – the guy who killed Pluto, found Sedna, which has an unusual 12,000 year, elongated orbit. He thinks there’s something out there -- a 10th planet or dark star, a big mass. We’re not far along there, but there’s evidence that something must be there.

Prior to 1998 it was thought that no star except for the Sun had any effect on Earth. But magnetosphere disruptions experienced on the night side of the planet that year meant that it was not an X-class solar flare, and it was concluded that a soft gamma repeater over 20,000 light years away was having the same affect on our planet as a solar flare would. So now it’s known that yes, other stars do affect planet Earth. Our ionosphere and magnetosphere can be highly affected by them.

We are coming out of a dark age, and the truths coming from the Vedas are starting to ring true. There may be a lot more to life than we think. After all, while most of us think we are physical beings walking on a physical earth and not much else, with conscious evolution we begin to understand that everything is made of energy and that there are many subtle influences. There will be deeper truths revealed as we reach higher stages.”

Cruttenden says myths depicting repeating cycles of golden and dark ages may have a basis in fact, as forces may be affecting Earth as our solar system moves through a 24,000-year dual star orbit. He says the way the stars move across the sky – the precession of the equinox – is the clue to, the reason for these alternating cycles, exactly as folklore describes.

“Think of the solar system as a space ship. We are approaching a sweet spot. It’s profound. The Great Year cycle is 24,000 years long-- 12,000 moving toward the higher age, and 12,000 moving away.

I’m hopeful about mankind. Higher consciousness is beginning to peak through. At first, of course, you just see the shadows.”

Bio
Walter Cruttenden is an amateur theoretical archaeo-astronomer and author of the binary theory of precession. As Executive Director of the Binary Research Institute he researches the celestial mechanics of the precession of the equinox, as well as myth and folklore related to this phenomenon. He is the writer-producer of The Great Year, a PBS broadcast documentary film (narrated by James Earl Jones) that explores evidence of astronomical cycles of time known to cultures throughout the ancient world. Most recently Cruttenden wrote Lost Star of Myth and Time, a book that provides an alternative view of history based on the solar system's motion through space. It is his belief that the myth and folklore depicting a repeating cycle of Golden Ages and Dark Ages may have a basis in fact, due to the alternating stellar forces that affect Earth as our solar system moves in a 24,000-year binary (dual star) orbit.

August 16, 2011–Appearing during the second hour, theoretical archaeo-astronomer Walter Cruttenden discussed how our solar system may be tied to another star which has influenced the rise and fall of civilizations. It may be very common for stars to be in binary systems, and if our whole solar system is in orbit around a companion star, "it might explain all this distant folklore about the cycle of the ages," dark and golden periods talked about by over 40 different cultures, he said. Cruttenden spoke about sophisticated technology from the BC era, including some evidence we don't completely understand like the terra preta soil of the Amazon, and the Avebury stone circle.

Author/lecturer Joseph Selbie joined the show in the latter half, for a discussion about the "Cycle of the Yugas," an ancient timeline that describes how we are transitioning from a low energy to a higher energy phase, over a 24,000 year period. It's believed the Yugas are tied to the cycle of precession of the equinoxes, and that "the Earth...becomes exposed to some sort of influence from outside the solar system that causes this rise and fall...The closer we get to the galactic center, the higher the age," he detailed.

According to the theory of the Yugas, around 1700 AD, we entered into a 200 year transition into a new cycle, where humankind became more aware of energy, as well as psychic and intuitive abilities. Selbie also talked about how the Great Pyramid was built during a transition from a mental age to an energy age, and was designed to concentrate and expand consciousness.

Elvis in Life & Death
On the 34th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, first hour guests, authors Patrick Lacy and R. Gary Patterson talked about the singer's legacy, his downfall, and rumors that he faked his death. While both believe that Elvis did die in 1977, Lacy recounted how a psychiatrist named Dr. Donald Hinton claims he's treated Presley for decades, who's been living in seclusion under the name of Jesse.

April 19, 2011–Walter Cruttenden is an amateur theoretical archaeo-astronomer and author of the binary theory of precession. As Executive Director of the Binary Research Institute he researches the celestial mechanics of the precession of the equinox, as well as myth and folklore related to this phenomenon.

Currently, our civilization is just a few hundred years out of the Dark Ages, and just as we wake from sleep each day, or nature wakes from winter each year, so too is consciousness now expanding at an exponential rate due to an increase in subtle stellar light at this phase in the stellar orbit.

In this interview, Walter talks about ancient cosmology as a map to the future. He'll discuss in more detail cycles of consciousness and what he expects to see in higher ages of consciousness.

Topics Discussed: consciousness changing light, ultraviolet, infrared, Faraday cage, electromagnetic soup, solar winds from the sun, magnetosphere, negative ions in the space shuttles, the great year, Virgo, spring equinox, 500 A.D., the dark ages, celestial clock, expanding consciousness, cell phones, electric age, Ray Kurzweil, information explosion, magic, technological progress, teleportation and levitation, frictionless traveling, quantum computers, 3D holographic, ancient records, Göbleki Tepe, John Burke, polarity in stone, "Seed of Knowledge Stone of Plenty", wisdom of stone, solar system science, constellations, precession, rise and fall of ages, Mike Brown at Caltech, Sedona, Xena and Comet Elenin. ~Red Ice Creations
