Filling in for George, Rob Simone welcomed trends analyst Gerald Celente for a conversation about what he foresees as the major trends for 2012. Here are several of them that he highlighted:
- Economic Martial Law-- Considering the current economic and geopolitical conditions, central banks and world governments already have plans in place to declare economic martial law, and "bank holidays" could be announced at any time, he warned.
- Battlefield America-- With the signing of the National Defense Authorization Act in December, the military can take US citizens away without charges. As such, America has been declared a battlefield, though the mainstream media has barely noticed, he commented.
- Invasion of the "Occtupy"-- The leaderless Occupy Wall St. movement has multiplied and grown into a "giant, formless creature with tentacles that reach around the globe." Celente sees this as a successful movement, and a megatrend of the new millennium.
- Alternative Energy 2012-- A new crop of exciting energy possibilities are on the horizon. "There's a rumor going out that Home Depot has bought the rights," to a cold fusion type device, as developed by Andrea Rossi in Italy, and that could be a real game changer that lifts up the economy, he said.
Other trends he talked about included "affordable sophistication," in which even during economic hardship people crave style and quality, and "Big Brother Internet," where the government may require Internet users to present the equivalent of a driver's license to navigate cyberspace. He also suggested that the conflict with Iran will heat up, possibly turning into a full-fledged war, now that the US has imposed sanctions on Iran, with no countries being able to buy oil from them.

First hour guest, author and researcher Nick Redfern talked about top secret facilities around the world such as Area 51, HAARP, and Australia's Pine Gap facility. Lesser known is a well-guarded installation located in Zhitkur, Volgogradskaya Oblast, that has been called Russia's Area 51. There've been rumors of back-engineering of alien craft, alien autopsies, and the development of alien viruses as bioweapons taking place there, he detailed. Redfern also discussed vaults and catacombs that are said to run underneath the Vatican, and contain massive amounts of gold, priceless paintings and religious artifacts.

Those two questions don't seem to occur to those visited deep in the night by gaunt men with bulging eyes, Fedora hats, black suits and crisp white shirts. No, the door just opens and in they go.
Some sort of mind control.
With a new book on the subject, respected researcher and prolific author Nick Redfern parses the multi-level mystery that is the Men in Black, or MIB, phenomenon. And we get to hear about vanishing goons and midnight I see what you're doing. I see what you're wearing phone calls.
But it's a serious subject. They've been around, whatever they are, for some 60 years, menacing, metaphysical, and life altering. Of course, some become stupefied when challenged, and eat soup with a fork.
Spanning genres from Hollywood to history, (a J. Edgar Hoover entry wonders if they're Communists), Redfern says the Men in Black are still very much among us. Exactly what are they, though?
They could be time travelers or multi-dimensionals. "And certainly if you needed clothing that would blend into this span of decades, a black suit would do it," Redfern says.
They could be mind-controlled street people doing some dark entity's bidding. They could be robots, or clones.
Some of them are clearly imposters, like the female MIB who showed up to intimidate some guy freaked out about a chupacabra in Puerto Rico. She had a big badge that said NASA.
A priest Redfern knows thinks they're sent by Satan, definitely demonic.
But one thing is undeniable: For a darn long time a darn lot of people have been visited by spooky-looking men in black suits with Fedoras and sunglasses and shiny black shoes, whose m.o. has been to scare the living daylights out of someone doing something that someone wants quiet.
And Redfern is still working on getting to the bottom of it. He's got Strange Tales of the Men in Black in the pipeline, stories that didn't make this book. He's also got The Pyramids and the Pentagon - How the Government has taken a deep interest in ancient technology. This newest is The Real Men in Black.
"My goal is to share data, because the more we have, the better chance we have of solving the mystery. I encourage people to come forward and share their stories."

June 22, 2011–British ufologist Nick Redfern discussed his research into the Men in Black (MIB) phenomenon, in which he looked at numerous cases from the start of UFO sightings to the present day. The first report of Men in Black was associated with Albert Bender, who was studying UFOs in the early 1950s and formed a popular group called the International Flying Saucer Bureau. But then, he suddenly shut the organization down after he was visited by three men wearing black suits who told him that he was getting too close to the truth, and if he knew what was good for him, he'd leave the subject alone. Later, researcher Gray Barker popularized Bender's tale, and implied that the Men in Black were government agents, Redfern detailed.
In many of the MIB accounts, witnesses describe the visitors as having somewhat odd appearances and behavior, including bulging eyes, being very short, sometimes lacking in emotion, and suddenly disappearing. Their goal always seems to be intimidation, which is typically accomplished with veiled threats, said Redfern, who added that he found it curious that people invariably allowed these strangers into their homes, which indicates the MIBs might employ a kind of hypnosis.
Redfern has concluded there may be more than one group behind the MIB phenomenon. For instance, there is documented evidence that government agents have visited people who've reported UFO sightings, yet some of the paranormal aspects to MIB visitations suggest there may also be alien/hybrids making their own visits to determine how much people know about them. Joshua P. Warren proposed an interesting theory to Redfern-- that MIBs may actually be time travelers. The reason they wear the black suits is because this look will fit in in many time periods, and this might also explain why the cars they drive are sometimes out of date, Warren said. In reference to photo documentation of MIBs, Redfern mentioned this photo taken by Timothy Green Beckley.

February 14, 2011–British ufologist and author Nick Redfern argued that NASA has hidden from the public, evidence of UFO visitations to the Earth, and astronaut sightings of UFOs in space, as well as been involved in cover-ups such as with the Roswell Incident, and the Face on Mars. "The more you look into it, the more we do find profound and fascinating stories that link NASA with UFOs, alien encounters, conspiracies...and different phenomena," he reported. One document from 1965 detailed a joint FBI/NASA effort to catch a NASA whistleblower who was leaking UFO information and photographs to NICAP. Around that time, the Gemini 4 spacecraft was said to have a UFO detection system built into it, he added.
A former NASA employee, Donna Hare, revealed that NASA actively covered up and altered or airbrushed photographic evidence, said Redfern. Similarly, an employee at Langley Field, Virginia, Karl Wolfe, said there was an effort to cover-up photographic evidence of a large base on the far side of the moon. It was Donna Hare's story that inspired Gary McKinnon to hack into NASA's computer system to look for photos, and he reportedly ran across the phrase "non-terrestrial officers," Redfern noted.
NASA has also been interested in alien abductions. They've been clandestinely monitoring this scenario with their own think tank, said Redfern, and concluded the abductions are of a rather ominous nature. In general, NASA may be hiding the truth for a variety of reasons, including:
