Jacque Fresco & Roxanne Meadows | The Venus Project

Synopsis
Today, much of the technology needed to bring about a global Resource-Based Economy exists. If we choose to conform to the limitations of our present monetary-based economy, then it is likely that we will continue to live with its inevitable results: war, poverty, hunger, deprivation, crime, ignorance, stress, fear, and inequity. On the other hand, if we embrace the concept of a global resource-based economy , learn more about it, and share our understanding with our friends, this will help humanity evolve out of its present state. For this and an in depth look into The Venus Project, Jaque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows are this episode's guests.

Bio
“The Venus Project” was started in the mid-1970s by social engineer, industrial designer, futurist and inventor Jacque Fresco and his partner, Roxanne Meadows. The Venus Project is an organization that proposes a feasible plan of action for social change; one that works toward a peaceful and sustainable global civilization. It outlines an alternative to strive toward where human rights are not only paper proclamations but also a way of life. The Venus Project presents a vision not of what the future will be, but what it can be if we apply what we already know in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old problems of war, poverty, hunger, debt, and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable, but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalog of problems found in today's world. The Venus project has been highlighted in the film “Zeitgeist Addendum” and the third sequel “Zeitgeist Movement” have attracted millions of people worldwide.

Jacque Fresco (born March 13, 1916), is an American self-educated architectural designer, industrial designer, social engineer, self-proclaimed inventor and futurist, prudential adviser, and the creator of The Venus Project. Fresco has worked as both designer and inventor in a wide range of fields spanning biomedical innovations and integrated social systems. He believes his ideas would maximally benefit the greatest number of people and he states some of his influence stems from his formative years during the Great Depression.

The Venus Project was started in the mid-1970s by Fresco and his partner, Roxanne Meadows. The film Future by Design was produced in 2006 describing his life and work. The film Zeitgeist Orientation Presentation was released to Google video in 2009 (narrated by Peter Joseph).

The Zeitgeist Movement is regarded as the activist arm of The Venus Project, and the Zeitgeist Orientation Presentation is considered by many to be the most complete depiction of the Venus Project to date. Fresco writes and lectures extensively on subjects ranging from the holistic design of sustainable cities, energy efficiency, natural resource management and advanced automation, focusing on the benefits it will bring to society.
